Hon. Paula A. Cox CBE,

Hon. Paula A. Cox CBE, Chair, is the former Premier of Bermuda.

Currently, she serves as Corporate Counsel, ACE Limited. Hon. Paula Cox has been the leader of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party (PLP) since 28 October 2010. She was appointed as the first PLP Minister of Labour, Home Affairs and Public Safety. Following the July 2003 General Election, she was appointed as Attorney-General and Minister of Education. She served in this dual portfolio until January 2004.

While serving in various roles she was named in the Bermudians’ Best of Bermuda Gold annual listing as the most effective politician for 2001. This accolade was repeated in 2006 in her capacity as Minister of Finance. Premier Cox previously worked as Vice President and in the Bermudians’ Best of Bermuda Gold annual listing as the most effective politician on three occasions, in 2001, 2003, and 2006.

Previously, she worked as Vice President and Senior Legal Counsel of Global Funds Services at the Bank of Bermuda Limited.

Hon. Paula Cox earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from McGill University in Canada, and a post-graduate Diploma in International Law from the University of Manchester. She trained as a Solicitor at the College of Law, Chancery Lane, London, and was called to the Bermuda Bar in January 1992. In 2011, she received the Caribbean region’s “Woman of the Year Award.”

In 2012, she received a “Women Who Make A Difference” Award from the International Women’s Forum.

Hon. Paula Cox was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2014 Birthday Honours for public service in Bermuda.
