Hon. Fernando Gomes Ká

Hon. Fernando Gomes Ká is President of the Guinean Association for Social Solidarity in Lisbon, Portugal, a post he has held since 1987. 

The first person of African dissent to be elected as a Member of the Portuguese Parliament, Mr. Ká served in that capacity after holding elective office in the city of Lisbon for a decade. 

His distinguished career in the service of others also includes experience as Vice President of the Council of the European-African Sub-Saharan Communities in Europe, as a founding member of the Municipal Council for Ethnic Minorities in Lisbon, and as a founding member of the European Union’s Migrant’s Forum, Mr. Ká is a frequent commentator on the Afro-Portuguese Community in Portugal.
