Dr. William Ackah

Dr. William Ackah is a lecturer in Community and Voluntary Sector Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London.

He holds a BA in Politics and Sociology, a PG Cert Teaching in Lifelong Learning Higher Education, and an MPhil in Politics and Communication Studies from the University of Liverpool, as well as a PhD in Government and Politics from Manchester University.

Dr. Ackah has been at Birkbeck since 2005. Prior to that he was head of Widening Participation at the University of Bristol, and prior to that he was Equality and Diversity Manager at the Learning and Skills Council, an academic at a number of higher education institutions, including the University of Edge Hill where he was a Lecturer in Race Equality Studies, Liverpool Hope University and the University of Liverpool.

His teaching includes Political Sociology, Community Development Theory and Practice, Race and Ethnic Relations, Diasporas, and Equality and Diversity Legislation and Practice
